Visiting with Family

Last weekend, Billy and I took Chesley to visit her second cousin Preston in Union, Ky. We had such a great time visiting with Tommy, Michelle, and cute little Preston. Good food, great wine, and fabulous company! Thanks for a fun weekend.

Swimming at the Y

Chesley and I took swimming lessons twice a week at the YMCA during the month of May. Tracy and Ty joined us too! Overall, Chesley enjoyed being in the pool and is now ready for our big beach trip next week to SC. Here are some pics of our last swim class which the teacher decided to spice up with some life jackets and boats. As a former teacher, I would have chosen a culminating activity that was a little less terrifying for the kids! ha.

Closing in on 6mths

These pics are only a sampling of the awesome pics that our good friend, Ben Isenhour, took at the Arboretum. He is very talented, but I personally think that he had an especially cute subject!

Gymboree

Chesley and I have been taking a Gymboree class every Monday for babies 0 to 6mths. There are 2 other students in her class, and Chesley really likes her teacher's singing voice. Much better than mine! We sing, have tummy time, play with bubbles, etc. Here is Chesley enjoying the bubbles.

Happy Valentine's Day

We had a nice V-day. Grandma Sharon brought us some delicious sandwiches from Zuni's for lunch along with an adorable hand-painted outfit for Chesley. Obviously things have come a long way since my puffy paint days. We then went to Giuseppe's with Will and Laura while Grandma Sharon sat for Chesley. Chesley likes to play with Grandma and only slept a total of 15 min. while we were out! Thanks for getting her nice and tired for us Sharon! (: Here are some pics of that cute outfit and some more rose pics.

Cuz' Time

Here is Chesley spending some quality time with her cousins, John and Lily, at Jamommy and Pap's house.

Sleeping Baby

Thought she was looking especially cute on this day!

Child Abuse

Billy took this picture saying it was child abuse. (: I was putting away groceries in the kitchen and needed a quick place to put Chesley. In other words, I was too lazy to go into the other room to get a blanket. Here she is lying on my jacket. I thought I was being nice not to put her directly on the hard floor! She looks awfully happy to me!

Story Time

With all this snow and ice, Chesley and I have had plenty of down time on our hands. Here we are looking at a cool new book that one of the teachers at VPE, Rebecca Puckett, gave her.

Under the Weather

Let's just say that mommyhood ain't so fun when you're not feeling well. I guess I just have a cold..headache, muscle aches, sore throat (not to mention a totally unrelated tooth issue, UGH!). It's a big slap in the face that you can't "take off" from parenting (or more importantly feeding your child). The funny part about it is that even when Billy says that he will take over, I can still hear all of the !#$!@# music making baby equipment, dvd's, etc. I swear Billy has got to be talking louder to her b/c I'm in bed. (: Anywho, I did get to go BACK to sleep until a whopping 9:00 A.M. this morning and do feel a little better. Because daddy took care of Chesley this morning, it is all documented in a photo shoot.

The Election

We know our daughter is advanced now......already interested in politics! Just ignore mama's beautiful socks.

Go Cats!

Billy got Chesley this adorable UK t-shirt, so we thought we'd try it out for game day. I'm not really into the bows right now for Chesley, but she looked so much like her dad (a boy) in the t-shirt that I had to plop a little white bow in her hair.

Canine Chaos

This seat cracks me up! Chesley won't sit in this seat for too long b/c her neck gets tired, but she looks so cute in it! I like to set her in it when we play with puppets. Sad news....our favorite puppet that Uncle Mikey gave us (Marley) had to be laid to rest today. Lissi destroyed it into tiny pieces all over the rug. The worst part about it is that I was in the room the whole time and didn't even notice. Which leads me to what I did to Henry last night....When I got home from the basketball game, Lissi was the only dog behind the gate to welcome me. I assumed Henry was asleep on the couch, but he was missing from the living room too. I then freaked out that I possibly left him outside in the backyard in the freezing cold (a cavalier could never survive..ha.), but again, no Henry. I'm now calling my mother-in-law (Billy is out of town) to say that Henry is missing when I hear something scratching on the bathroom door. I had accidentally locked him in the pitch black bathroom for 3 1/2 hours. The dogs have definitely moved down on the totem pole, but this is ridiculous. I vow to give both dogs a bath and a long walk this weekend. (:

Wasting Time

I'm proud to say that I finally have a morning schedule for Chesley where it is pretty much guaranteed (knock on wood) that she will go to sleep around 9:30 A.M. for at least an hour and a half. The bad news is that instead of actually doing things while she is sleeping like cleaning, laundry, or dare I say, working on my thesis!, I find myself on the computer WASTING TIME! I can get lost on youtube forever (like yesterday I watched tons of American Idol performances...love David Cook's Billy Jean, or today, I'm reading Pure Barre testimonials (hoping what happened to these women will happen to me) and jumping from one mommy/fashion blog to the next (dreaming of when I'll get out of the house next to even look fashionable). I really need to give these mutts a bath. Lissi's mustache is starting to have knappy dreadlocks or is it knatty dreadlocks? I don't know, but you know what I mean!

Two Month Doctor's Visit

Chesley was so cute at her doctor's visit...wide awake the whole time (and really awake when she got her shots!) She weighs 12.1 pounds now and is 22 1/2 inches long. She was lucky to have daddy soothing her while she got her shots. Mommy had to be the mean one and hold her legs down on the exam table. Now I see why my mom yelled when I got my broken finger popped back into socket. It hurts you when your child is in pain! Chesley did the silent scream before producing some nice crocodile tears. Needless to say, she recovered soon after and all is well.
